McCarthy built a 25,000-square-foot Teaching and Learning Center at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), which is one of the country’s first inter-professional, team-based simulation learning centers. Our higher education construction team built this facility that offers students and faculty from a variety of healthcare disciplines the opportunity to work side-by-side, as well as “telecommunicate,” as they develop the skills required to deliver patient care.
The innovative and interactive teaching facility includes rooms with simulated clinical environments, such as exam, operation, Emergency and ICU rooms; a state-of-the-art computer center; seven large seminar rooms; and four classrooms fully equipped for interactive, technology-driven medical training. Flexible furniture and moveable walls allow individual rooms to transform into large lecture and teaching spaces, maximizing the versatility of each space. The Center also features the latest audiovisual technology, where students can view simulated or actual medical procedures.
