With Construction Safety Week coming to a close, we want to take a moment to reflect on the past week and highlight a group of project teams in Denton, TX.
The Southeast Denton Neighborhood Street Rehab, Texas Woman’s University Administration Phase 2, and City of Denton Mayhill Road projects came together each day during Safety Week and hosted various speakers throughout the week:
- On Monday, the McCarthy project team led a discussion about safety culture and what it means to Take Pride in Safety.
- On Tuesday, our partners at Union Sling visited the group to discuss rigging and signaling.
- On Wednesday, our partners from MSA discussed safe practices regarding fall protection.
- On Thursday, our partners from Barricades Unlimited talked about traffic control.
- On Friday, the project teams celebrated with giveaways and lunch for everyone.
In addition to their dedication to celebrating Construction Safety Week, these three project teams have had a focus on safety since they began work. Between the three teams, they have a combined 0.0 total project incident rate with 32,000 labor hours. Additionally, they also have been tracking near misses and have identified and corrected over 30 unsafe acts.
As we depart from Safety Week, we’ll continue to keep the theme of “Strong Voice, Safe Choices” in mind and work together to continuously improve construction safety with the goal of sending everyone home safely every day.
