Safety Week at Gaylord Pacific Resort Hotel and Convention Center
In honor of Construction Safety Week 2023, the Mortenson McCarthy joint venture project team at the Gaylord Pacific Resort Hotel and Convention Center on the Chula Vista Bayfront reflected on the importance of safety and why it is the foundation of what we do every day.
Strong Voices, Safe Choices
This year’s theme for Construction Safety Week was Strong Voices, Safe Choices, and the Mortenson McCarthy joint venture team at the Gaylord Pacific Resort Hotel and Convention Center project takes that to heart. Creating a positive safety culture is of upmost importance for this project, especially due to its workforce size – reaching about 1,000 workers at its peak.
Each morning, crews are briefed on logistics and work going on that day, so everyone is aware of what’s happening on the job, and they can be set up for success. Workers are engaged and empowered to speak up if they see unsafe practices and take corrective action as needed to stay safe.
