Capitalizing on an extensive history of partnership with noted area healthcare providers to build premier facilities in Colorado, McCarthy Building Companies has started work on an important expansion and renovation at UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital. The project includes renovation of current spaces, new construction and creation of new shelled space. It is expected to be complete in Summer 2025.
“As the need for quality healthcare in the Denver metropolitan area continues to grow, we are honored to be once again working with the team at UCHealth Longs Peak to bring this significant project to life,” said Joe Brunsman, senior vice president of operations. “This exciting expansion will serve to elevate the level of care available to people in Longmont and the surrounding area.”
In collaboration with architectural partner Page, the project features a three-part expansion totaling more than 60,000 square feet with a 46,500-square-foot expansion on the north building and the addition of one story to the existing three-story tower. The project also includes filling in an existing courtyard and building out the utility plant to increase capacity.
Additionally, there will be nearly 30,000 square feet of multi-phase interior renovation on levels 1, 2 and 3, which will involve the emergency department as well as the pharmacy and commercial kitchen space, also included is work in the labor, delivery and post-partum rooms along with one new C-section room.
The shelled space will accommodate future growth and will be capable of housing additional operating rooms or other department expansions to provide for the health and wellbeing of community members.
“The master plan was thoughtfully designed to grow the care we can provide for UCHealth patients right here, close to home,” Longs Peak President Ryan Rohman said. “We are honored that more and more patients are choosing to receive their care at Longs Peak Hospital. This expansion will help us ensure community members can receive the highest quality of care close to home while ensuring we’re ready for future growth.”
Sturgeon Electric is the electrical trade partner on the project.
