McCarthy Recognized by the American Heart Association
McCarthy was given Gold-level recognition in the AHA’s 2023 Workforce Well-being Scorecard for building a culture of health and well-being.
The American Heart Association, a global force for healthier lives for all, has awarded McCarthy Building Cos. with national Gold level recognition for its commitments to employee health and well-being as measured in the Association’s 2023 Workforce Well-being Scorecard™.
The Scorecard brings together the latest research and insights from industry experts to help business leaders build a science-backed, employee-centric culture of health and well-being. The tool allows employers to evaluate how their policies and procedures compare to leading best practices in areas such as mental health support, addressing burnout, financial well-being, health equity considerations and more. Companies that complete the Scorecard receive a recognition level based on their alignment with established guidance, along with actionable strategies to support improvement and a dashboard to benchmark their progress against peer organizations.
McCarthy partners with Vitality as a resource to employees to help improve overall health and wellness, and the company sees a 75% participation rate in the program across the last 10 years. McCarthy also partners with Lyra to offer mental health support to employees. With this service, employees receive 25 sessions per year for themselves as well as each of their family members. In 2023, 98% of employees and their families were instantly matched with a provider, and the average time to get an appointment was only two days.
“We are dedicated to building a culture that helps everyone thrive, both in and out of the workplace,” said Jen Minute, McCarthy Benefits Manager. “Health and wellness are truly engrained in the McCarthy culture, and we want our employees to take advantage of all that we offer.”
