As President of McCarthy’s National Renewable Energy group, Scott Canada provides strategic leadership for all renewable energy projects and teams across the United States. With a focus on innovation, Scott integrates cutting-edge technologies and processes to deliver successful outcomes for clients while advancing McCarthy’s role as a leader in utility-scale solar and energy storage solutions. He is also deeply committed to workforce development, spearheading the establishment of McCarthy’s Nationally Accredited Apprenticeship Program and fostering a national safety culture that consistently surpasses industry benchmarks.
Since joining McCarthy in 2009, Scott has been instrumental in the creation and growth of McCarthy’s renewable energy EPC (engineer-procure-construction) capabilities. Under his leadership, McCarthy’s portfolio has expanded from 21 MW of solar projects to more than 100 projects totaling 15+ GW of solar energy and over 7 GWh of energy storage, significantly contributing to the United States' transition to clean energy. McCarthy has been named as a ‘Top Solar Contractor’ by Solar Power World since 2013. His expertise and vision have positioned McCarthy as a trusted quality builder in renewable energy, with a reputation for delivering innovative solutions, self-perform expertise, and unparalleled experiences to clients nationwide.
Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Texas Tech University and a master’s degree in construction management from Arizona State University. He is certified in Six Sigma and Innovation Management and has authored numerous articles in national renewable energy publications, where he shares insights on the evolving landscape of clean energy construction. Previously, Scott has served as a board member with SEIA (Solar Energy Industries Association).
