Kris Barr

Kris Barr serves as the Vice President and Business Unit Leader of our San Jose office. With over 20 years of industry experience, he brings expertise across multiple market sectors including Life Sciences, Education, Adaptive Reuse and Commercial Office Space. Since joining McCarthy in 2022, Kris has embodied a culture of teamwork and demonstrates a genuine approach to leadership that fosters team growth and partner relationships.  

In his role, Kris supervises business development and project delivery for a diverse range of clients in the Bay Area. He mentors high-performing teams to deliver seamless project execution from project inception through completion. 

Prior to joining McCarthy, Kris spent 12 years with California-based MATT Construction where he led several unique, large-scale projects including Google’s Spruce Goose headquarters in Playa Vista, CA. He brings with him long-standing relationships built on trust and his unwavering commitment to quality. 

Kris holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering and Management from Purdue University. Throughout his tenured career, Kris has managed over $1B of diverse projects across multiple market sectors throughout California. With his expertise in project management, Kris brings a wealth of knowledge to support our estimating, design phase services, and preconstruction teams.
