McCarthy Celebrates Employee Ownership by Giving Back
McCarthy’s 2021 Shareholders’ Celebration Week will be held virtually, but that didn’t stop our teams from finding unique and inspirational ways to give back.
As one of America’s largest 100 percent employee-owned companies, McCarthy’s employee-owners gather every spring for a Shareholders’ meeting to review company performance, discuss plans for the future, and connect with fellow owners. A special part of every Shareholders’ event is a company-wide effort to give back to our local communities through our McCarthy Heart Hats® program. McCarthy is proud to be known as a community builder. Whether we’re on the job site, in a regional office, or working remotely, we are dedicated to giving back to the communities where we live and work.
McCarthy’s 2021 Shareholders’ Celebration Week was held virtually, but that didn’t stop our teams from finding unique and inspirational ways to give back. Employee-owners from across the country gathered safely, in accordance with our COVID-19 policies, or participated from home, in support of various causes.
Care to Learn
Care to Learn provides immediate funding and support to meet emerging needs in the areas of health, hunger and hygiene so every student can be successful in school. McCarthy employee-owners worked with Impact 4 Good to create and color 600 reusable weekend tote bags that will be filled and distributed at local food pantries across the Midwest.
Together We Rise
Together We Rise is dedicated to transforming the way children experience foster care in America. McCarthy has a long history of supporting children’s charities. Our teams furthered that tradition by building skateboards for children in need of fun outdoor activities in support of Up Bring, Lonestar Social Service, and Agape Manor Home in our Southern Region.
Food Bank Support
The East Palo Alto Senior Center, Inc., San Francisco, Marin Food Bank, and St. Vincent de Paul Society Roseville are focused on addressing rising food insecurity across Northern California. McCarthy volunteers participated in a friendly canned-food building competition and donated 4,000 cans of food to these and other area food banks.
Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels
The mission of Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels is to bring dignity and comfort into the harsh world of childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. McCarthy team members made tie-dye capes, masks and blankets that will be delivered as care packages to children in local hospitals across the Southwest and Southern California.
McCarthy employee-owners are passionate about giving back to their communities. In 2005, we formalized McCarthy Heart Hats®, our national community outreach program, to build on our long legacy of giving back. Since then, McCarthy and our employees have donated more than $20 million and spent thousands of hours giving back to our communities. Helping those in need has always been a special part of our Shareholders’ events, and McCarthy is proud to see our employee-owners finding new ways to continue this tradition.
