Shawnee Mission Hospital Tower

This project consists of $27 million in renovations of Tower 2 at AdventHealth’s Shawnee Mission Hospital. The tower is occupied throughout the time of renovations, so McCarthy is completing the work in phases and made ICRA a critical focus. Renovations include completely gutting the tower, removing asbestos, and refitting the space to better provide whole-person care.  

The hospital will have 524 patient beds once construction is complete. Each of the four care units affected has 11 beds, but the renovation will give each 39 beds, tripling the initial count. When the tower opened, it used only the first two floors and since has grown to have functions on all six floors with roughly 20 beds per unit.
