Derek Fitzgerald is a seasoned leader who serves as the Senior Vice President and Business Unit Leader for our San Francisco Office. With a career spanning over a decade at McCarthy, Derek has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to fostering strong teams and nurturing enduring partner relationships. His remarkable journey within the organization has positioned him as a key player in overseeing an impressive portfolio of work.

As Senior Vice President, Derek will provide executive-level oversight for a diverse portfolio of projects spanning multiple markets. These markets include Life Sciences and Biotech, Commercial Office and R&D, Aviation, and Education. His expertise extends to projects ranging from $1 million to upwards of $500 million. Derek orchestrates the harmonious collaboration of McCarthy’s diverse departments. From design phase services to scheduling, accounting, safety, quality control, and risk management, he ensures that all gears mesh seamlessly. His goal is to create an environment where every stakeholder thrives.  

Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil/Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. His academic foundation, combined with practical experience, equips him to tackle complex challenges with confidence and his impact reverberates throughout McCarthy.
