McCarthy Awarded New Poultry Science Complex at University of Georgia
The Poultry Science Complex at the University of Georgia will be the third high-containment laboratory that McCarthy is currently working on in Georgia.
McCarthy has been selected as the construction manager for the new, approximately 75,000-square-foot Poultry Science Complex at the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens, Ga. The building will be a state-of-the-art, dedicated education and research facility designed to enhance and expand the quality of instruction and related research to UGA’s poultry science program.
Scheduled to be completed in early 2024, the new facility will be built to support four programs within UGA’s Department of Poultry Science, a division of the College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences. The degree programs include Avian Biology, Poultry Science, Animal Health and Biological Science.
The Poultry Science Complex will include labs and support spaces such as BSL2 research labs, walk-in cold rooms, and tissue culture rooms. Additionally, there will also be a variety of classrooms and general spaces such as open study areas, lobby and reception, interactive spaces, collaboration rooms, conference rooms, support spaces, and office space for faculty and staff.
